Unhappy MOHAA and the new Clone CD...

I tried to make a backup copy of MOHAA yesterday and unistalled it on my computer to see if the backups worked. The 1st disk installed fine but the second disk locked up at around 75% and came up with some kind of error. With the new Clone CD should I click on the multimedia icon for the second disk instead of the Game Icon? I have the same boxes checked that I had check on the old version of Clone. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I don't want to make another coaster. LOL Additionally, I burned at 16X, should I lower the speed? I always burned at 16X with the old version of Clone. Here are my system specs:
AMD 2000+
80 GIG 7200 rpm HD
512 DDR Ram
Win XP Pro
GForce 3Ti 500
Liteon 24X
Pioneer DVD Drive
22" Viewsonic PF Series
KT7266 MB

Your Lite-on will do it perfectly. Just choose the Game profile, or set the settings yourself, or use Clony XXL

An error during installation isn't due to the copy protection - mayb the original was scratched or you done it on the fly or something. But your Lite-on should do it fine - also don't forget about Hide CD-R Media.

I agree with everything Gh0sth@cker said. One other thing though, have you changed brands of CD-R's recently? Some work better than others, so you might want to try re-burning onto another brand of CD.

I thought I read somewhere that basically all brands of CD's were the same. If they are not which ones are better than others. I try to buy whatever has the biggest mail-in rebate. Getting back to the problem I think I do have copy on the fly checked. Maybe thats what screwed up. I don't have the clone program in front of me right now but I cant remeber off the top of my head where that Hide CD-R Media thing is. Thanks for your input.

The Hide CD-R Media feature won't affect the installation, it's nothing to do with this problem - it's just a little tip you'll need for later if you plan to play the copy in your Lite-on

It answers your next question

1X. Christ how long does that take to make a backup. I've made successful backups of my NHL2002,MADDEN2002, and my Train Simulator with no problems all of which I burned at 16X. Is the 1X thing a MOHAA problem or good advice in general. Oh another question while I'm thinking about it, why is it that my backup will work on my box but when I went to my parents house it wouldn't even install correctly. Like I said I had no problems with it on my machine. Is it that thier CD Rom drive is about 2 years old, 6X I think and is ot reading the backup correctly. Thanks for your guys input.

1X? That must take a long while.
I'm used to burning all games (including SD2 protected ones) at 40X... with no problems...
I'm using a LiteOn 40125S

Talking x1

x1 is really not that long... You would be surprised. I have not triend to copy any faster yet... I have just read in here that,x1 is the best way to copy... So that is what I have done. It works and is a more relieable copy so why not. Time is not an issue for me really. Just a good copy...
as far as your parents machine??? I have read before that if you burn faster than some readers can read them, then they might not be able to read them. Also, it could be disc at once problem. If you do not use disc at once then the older cdroms do not understand them.

A full 700 MB CD would take 80 minutes to write at 1X...a full 650 MB CD takes 74 minutes at 1X... I could almost chisel the gaps into the CD myself with an icepick faster than that.
Not to mention the time it takes to read at 1X...
If you really like wasting time, that's your business, but don't be afraid to experiment with higher speeds, most people don't know what they're talking about.
I've tried several of my 40X burned games on other computer systems and not one of them has had trouble reading them. (so far, so good anyway)

The game manufacters burn the games at around 100X. They work fine on everyones box. So I think if your burner and CD drive support it I wouldn't think the speed you burn at is that big a deal.

Joe Forster/STA is on a distinguished road
Hey ozzy, I don't think game manufacturers _burn_ games... They rather _press_ CD's because that is a magnitude faster _and_ cheaper for such huge amounts, several thousands.

Exclamation Burning Speeds

I have played a little with the speeds and it might be a limitation on my burner, not real sure, but it seems to do better with sd2 protection at x1. But it only takes about 20 min. to read and 20 to burn. I have just gotten use to it. I am happy that I can even burn the games...

Just curious... what SD2 protected game is only 175 MB? That's what it would have to be in order to burn it in 20 minutes at 1X.
Mind you, I don't doubt what you say, but I'm just not aware of any game that small that uses SD2 as protection.
