Question Firmware Downgrade

Hi im a newbie to this site and i need some help
i recently upgraded my cd/rw module in my notebook
i have a sony crx700e
problem is now ive learnt that the new version 1.4u now will not allow me to burn safedisc and safedisc2 protected cd games
i am very upset that i cant back up my own games
so what i learnt is too downgrade back to a version that works
problem is i dont have a lower version and i cant find one or a link to one , ive found the same updated version but not a lower one
can anybody at all lead me to a solution or a link
beleive me i have looked everywhere on the net so far
maybe someone has a dell notebook with the same cd/rw module i have
look forward to anybody comments that can help

But did you read that i want to downgrade my firmware NOT get the latest firmware
i already seen that site and its great IF your looking for the latest firmware

Someone correct me if i am wrong but i dont think you can downgrade firmware, you may be screwed.

you can downgrade firmware. its generally not advised, although it does work. ask ghosthacker for a success story, i think it was he that said he d/graded his plex

Plextor allow you to downgrade without problems

Most other drives don't allow you but there is a tool (I'll think of the name soon and find a link) that will allow you to do it.


Edit:
Get MTKFlash here - but this doesn't work for all drives. Read up on it maybe if ur unsure by searching Google

mtk works on all drives that use mediatek chipsets, i e liteon's, asus's, lg's, and anything that is re-badged by them. check cdfreaks forums for a complete list, OC-FREAK recently detailed who uses what chipsets
