help? popper mod?

just had a friends machine chipped for him,its the third machine that ive taken to my local chipping pro,he fitted a popper mod?i keep fairly up to date with mod chips but aint ever heard of it,and ive just got in and tryed loading backups....so far ive loaded only 2 out of 20.....it seems to try to read for a second then stops.im using dvd x and am sure that its not just the timing of the button press being wrong.......does the laser need ajusted{ps its a v5 machine} also the e a boot method i use with mine dont work either{the friggin drawer doesnt open} any advice greatly received.....also booting methods for this particular chip would be great as i have no clue on this one{and to quote-i know its probarly a crap solution ,compared to messiah,but it aint mine.also looking for a good price for a messiah for my wee lads machine! thanks in advance!!!!!

psx_paul is on a distinguished road
why dont you ask him what the correct name of the "popper mod(???)" is...

for messiah - contact charlie_ps2 or dust2dust through their profiles

the so-called "popper mod" is nothing but a neo 2.2 clone.

so it should boot up the same as neo .i.e.ea sports boot should work the same{the drawer doesnt open!}
see this is what happened ,not sure if hes full of crap or genuine{can you?}
took machine in,went back to collect and he says..the one i brought in was a version 6 and wont work with neo,so he seems to screw up the NEW machine and gives me another machine {v5} fitted with a pop mod which is better as dvdr boots with it.
but booting is a problem.i will phone him tomorrow,but this kinda stuff keeps me awake!
is he ok or full of crap?

he is.
there is no V6. it doesn't exist.
some stores label the V5 with a changed ribbon cable connector V5, but that's total BS, the mainboard revision is still identical.
neo 2.x works on ALL models. the popper mod also works around the EA trick problem (doesn't work for V5s usually), if it doesn't work, the guy simply fucked up.
