well, your ps2 console in protected. Before it will start a game it search for something on the game-cd or dvd. If this something is there the game will boot if it is not there the game won`t boot. This something can only be written by the makers of the game. If you make a copy you can`t copy the something on a cd or dvd. It is ion the hardware. A modchip clears the protectionsearch. So your ps2 console doesn`t look anymore for that something. Other modchips load the something from a original and save it in there memory and then they use it for the backup. The best modchip out now is the messiah. It will boot all games and imports without swapping. Origa is better if you live in the U.S. i believe

Warlock is on a distinguished road
Put simply, Original games contain data that cannot be copied by a cd burner. A mod chip along with a boot disc is used to inject the code to the PS2 telling it that the backup is a original and allowing it to boot. depending on what version PS2 you have Messiah is the best chip followed by Origa-chip then neo2.5. Dont waste your time with neo4. To many wires and to little performance
