neo4 problem version 3 30003 uk

Hi

I am new to ps2 mods (but not modding in general) after just fitting myself a neo4 on an original uk 30003 ver3 ps2 i have a couple of questions if one of you experts could help.

CDRs, dvds (all region) work fine. i am yet to try a DVDR but question is how do i boot them? i have inserted an original dvd keeping eject pressed. wait for the disk to be recognised in the browser and then let go of eject. the disk pops out about 3/4 of the full travel and stays there. ?? Should it go in automatically or should i press eject again?

it should come out all the way. check your wiring, it sounds like a wire isn't right, or something is shorted (check the pins on the bios with a magnifying glass)
also make sure you used the right spot for power, if it's getting too little power, it might not suffice for ejecting properly.

thanks for the reply, thats all i needed to know. better get the soldering iron out again ;-)

should the tray go back in on its own after 4 secs?

i have double checked my wiring and all looks fine. I have even tried the alternate point for pin 36...

The tray still comes out (not quite all the way) and stays there while trying to boot dvdr's. alternate pin 36 from http://members.iinet.net.au/~benoff/...l/neo4-02.html

it says on that site however that some ps2 do have tray problems with neo4

Can anyone please help me, im starting to get desperate :-(

i have the same problem my drive opens up fine but when it goes back in it does not lmove the locking try and laser back into position so what i do is when it ejects put my copied dvd-r in and then push it about halfway back in and let it take it back in from there and it works fine

ahhhh. ive just moved the pin 36 to the alternate position and the tray now comes all the way out, but it still wont boot dvdr. just makes a whirey noise

v3 r old prone to weak laser
maybe now it just cant read dvdr
try calibrating dvd pot or if needed get new laser
