helping backing up a couple games
Hi,
I need some help backing up Street Fighter 3 EX and Time Splitters. I have tried them with CloneCD and I get a read error while trying to write CD image to disk. I thought it might be the disk so I got a buddies version and tried it and it still did it. Seems like there is some protection of them I also tried using CDRwin to extract to disk but same thing. Can someone please help me with these two backups. Thanks Raiden |

Next - your buddie's CD. Was it an original? Was the one you were copying from an original? If they were backups, could they both have come from the same flawed source and did those source backups work? |

The games can be copied using Nero with the guide from www.psxcopyworld.com (This is what I used)
Or Cdrwin. Time splitters does not have protection and should be a straight forward copy. Make sure you are using good blanks like Verbatim cheap cds don't seem to work. Sim PM |

I have not tried Nero yet, but I have tried CloneCD and CDRWin. I have made backups of a number of games with CloneCD and had no problem at all, so I do not think it is my burner.
They are both original copies of the games. My buddies version was also an original. I am using Sony CDR cds for backups. I have 18 other games that I have backed up on Sony's and they work great. I get read errors from the original when trying to backup with CloneCD and CDRWin. SimonBradley, which guide are you talking about. I do not see it |

Hi Matey,
Ive made backups of both these games from originals with no problems, i used clone cd and they both copyied fine. What is the exact error you get from CLONE CD, are you using your reader to make the image or your burner???? Cheers Dal |

I am using my reader to make the image, but I have tried both.
What are the setting in CloneCD you have used. I get read errors on a number of tracks in a row. I tried a completely different (original) copy of the game and the same thing happened. Please advise |

Once again, If you get read errors using cdrwin then the disc is dirty or damaged. NO PSX or PS2 games have intentional errors.

Warlock is correct and I return to my original suggestion. Have you tried to wash your disk?
Nero ain't gonna help here. |
