Hardware Problems
Hi, Its me again. I have a compact computer 5000 series and it cam with a cd rom and a philips 4801. On saturday I bought a liteon 24x10x40x. I took out the cd rom and put the liteon as master and the philips as slave. Now the liteon won't stay closed. I push the button to close it, it looks for a disc, and then it opens. If I put a disc in it will close look for a disk and then open. It seems to be malfunctioning. Is it because I have it as master? Or is it because I took out the CD ROM? Thanks for your help.

one more thing..
Was the cd rom that you took out made by compaq computer corporation??Cuz i have a compaq that came with a dvd rom and a cd-r....i tried to put the dvd in another machine and it would not work,im guessin cause it was made by compaq it will only work in a compaq....So maybe the lite on you bought just isnt compatible with your compaq....If i were you i would contact Compaq tech support and see what they say...

The strangest thing happened. After I restarted my system for like the 5th time the liteon works. My only problem now is I replaced my philips burner with my old Cd-rom and now it won't read anything. I can get it to open and close easily, but it won't read. When I installed this Rom drive I think I put it on the slave setting (It used to be master). How can I get it to work?
