Sorry, but you should have sought advice before buying.

This is one CD Recorder I would never consider, along with Phillips. Cheap and cheerful.

See CloneCD hardware guide to see why.

Owl!

Iv'e just bought one of these myself. Well, about 2 months ago but in PC terms that years!

Anyway, all may not be lost. Have you got a CD-ROM as well as your Traxxy? Iv'e got a dog-old TOSHIBA 24x cd-rom that I use to do all the RAW reading with CloneCD (it does a full RAW read). Then I burn at 8x using the same software and my Traxxy.

As far as audio and PC stuff goes Iv'e had no probs. However some PSX games have had trouble with the audio tracks, and won't run on certain PSX models - very very strange. I haven't been able to get to the bottom of this, but have found that discs made by (dare I say it), MIRROR or DiscHouse have the fewest problems where the PSX is concerned. A small amount of games just won't burn at all - but that's only a small amount.

Now the Dreamcast one's: I have no trouble at all with games that require the Utopia boot disc, but the self-booters require a bit more perseverence. They DO load - but again for some very odd reason a game such as Ready 2 Rumble round 2, will take an extra 20sec to get to the Sega logo screen - from then on the game works as normal! Yet some games don't have this extra pause (the machine makes a spinning noise, as though looking for data). This happens no matter what brand of media I choose. Traxdata Black 80min (12x) work best with me and my Dreamcast.

I am using ASPI layers version 4.60 (latest), and Win98B, CloneCD 2.7.8.1.

I have also heard of a program called Blind Read/Blind Write, that's supposed to do a RAW read/write with any drive, but I haven't tried this yet.

One thing I did find with the Traxxy - Disc Juggler wouldn't have anything to do with it, so I used a program to convert them to Nero and most of them worked (Nero 5.02).

I think next time I'll just get a 12x Plextor even though they cost more..

Hope this helps ya out in some small way.
