CIV 3 NOCD patch PLEASE HELP!

Ok i've installed the Civ 3 program. Now i went to download the nocd patch and i get an ACE file. Now how do i run the game without having to use the cd? It says replace the ACE file with the EXE file and i did that. I still can't get it to run. It just tells me that i need to put the disk in the cd rom. Please help me!!
