I can't help you much with your Adaptec Direct CD probs, but..

The Plextor drives come highly rated - especially for backing up PSX and titles and for reliability/compatibility. It can read/write in RAW mode - just what you need for backing up virtually anything! So you have bought a good one.

You say that you wish to burn audio discs using MP3 files. Nero is very good at this beacuse it will convert an MP3 file into a CD-AUDIO file for you "on-the-fly", hence you don't need to convert the MP3 file before you burn it with Adaptec Easy CD Creator. However you need a decent PC to burn at say 8x when using MP3 files and Nero due to the workload.

Nero is very easy to use, and is widely recognised by many writers - but if you decide to go ahead with it I'd recommend un-installing your Adaptec software, as some versions of Easy CD Creator will clash with Nero and cause problems. Log onto Nero's homepage for a list of compatible writers.

Hope this helps ;-)

Seems strange that you asked exactly the same type of question "is it any good" a few weeks ago for your Ricoh 7120 which you claimed copyied everything you tried including SD2.

Did you have a 7120 or do you have a Plex ???
