Illegal speed for medium

i have a creative labs 6424, i get cds from FRYs( the generic GQ). most of them work great, write @ 6x, a few give me problems, it give me the error Illegal speed for medium. im using NERO 5. anyone got any solutions?

Try doing the same procedure with a different brand of cd-r (something like Sony or Tdk) to see if that will work and to rule out other potential problems.
