cueball world + clone cd

just got cueball world and it wont f###kin,ive made working backups of other safedsic 2 games inc max payne,op flashpoint,red alert 2 etc with no probs. its new safedisc 2.51.020
game copy ok but when i try and run it locks up or asks for cd depnding on rom i run it it
heres wierd thing,if i use the hide cdr media option in new clone teh copy works in ALL my cd roms,writer,dvd and asus cdrom. i thought that option was just to play backups on a writer,so why does it work on my normal cdroms with this option install,they got some new kind of atip protection on it that works with roms?
a no cd would be nice if no one can figure out how to clone it,any advice would be nice folks
