Have a question with the Plextor 24/10/40A
I just bought one of these today and im having some small problems. First off I am running Win XP Pro and had no problems installing the drive. Windows detects it and shows it in my comptuer. The problem I am having is that CDRWin cannot detect any CDROM Recording devices on my machine. However Disc Juggler will detect it and will burn the only problem is that Disc Juggler only burnt on 16x. Anyone have a solution to these problems?

I'm only guessing here that DiscJuggler only let you burn at 16X because the maximum the media you were using was 16X. This happens in some programs - maybe it's the same with DiscJuggler.

My guess is that you haven't installed the ASPI drivers required for XP?
Just a guess. The ones that come with CDRwin do not hack it. You can get them here. ####://xp.xyu.ca/drivers.htm I'd like to know how you got CDRwin reqistered (assuming it is). I can't get my hands on a good code. The one in Serials 2000 says it's too old. |

I installed the ASPI driver thing. Still no luck with nero 5.0.1.8. I did however get cdrwin to work by upgrading to the 4.0a beta.

Be sure your hard disc is able to read data at more speed...sometimes cdrwin, nero or such programs detects how much amount of data can be transferred and adjust it to a specific cd recording speed. For example plextor seems to adjust speed by 4x....i want to say that only will record at 4,8,12,16,20,24x.If your hard disc can't transfer data at 20x (3 mb/s) it will adjust for 16......
Other option could be windows xp.......... Good luck!
