Civ 3 problems - please help

hi, i bought civ 3 from a friend who called it crap and wanted to make some quick money. Problem is, its scratched to shit, and the cd isn't picked up. the game has installed fine, i can run the editor as well, but just not the game, even though the cd is in the drive. I downloaded the 1.16f patch, installed it, and then tried two cd cracks from gamecopyworld (for 1.16f) and they didn't work (i couldn't install them and dragging dropping them into the civ 3 folder did nothing (they had those little windows pages as icons - which i assume is the problem).

so, anyone know hopw i can make these work? i see that some people think that one of these cracks i downloaded is a bit dodgy. how do i install them?

alternativly, anyone know where i can get version 1.07 of civ 3 so i try the other crack?

OR could someone tell me where i can download a crack for unpatched civ 3. www.megagames has one but their servers down (all the time). anyone have a link or soemthing?

any help would be greatly appreciated.
