Diablo 2 1.09 prepatch failed?

It says my prepatch failed because :

"Registry error loading key 'Archives\DiabloInstall'
The system cannot find the file specified."

Now I think I know why it failed (altered files), but my question is how do I patch to 1.09 in this situation? What file is it looking for? I hope whoever helps me wins the lottery.

Are you looking to patch it from Battle.net? or crack it so it works with a copied CD? I was using a crack from GCW for the 1.08 patch. Then 1.09 came out and i was too anxious to keep playing so i downloaded it and it worked with 1.08 crack. Pretty Sweet.
