Age of Empires Strange Occurences NEED HELP

i have been trying to apply the crack for sometime now and i am just not
succesful. I used to have aoe 2 and the conquerors running on my comp but
my roomate was playing and the file stopped opening. I uninstalled it all
and then reinstalled.Anyways now all i can do after install and running any patch
is go to the opening screen but not past that. It sucks all i can see is
the intro movie...what should i do?

isnt it nice to get a reply!!!!
more information is needed, this doesnt sound like a game problem, more of a hardware/software problem

Sounds like driver problems, ensure you have the latest drivers for your hardware and also a recent version of direct X
then do a full install of the game and use unsafedisk1 to make a testme.exe
if these dont work try updating your service pack to 2 for win 2000
or 1 for the origional win 98 (ie not second edition).

if this doesnt work forget it, go buy another game.
