HALFLIFE V 1.O.O. ETC

I HAVE A COPY OF HALFLIFE WHICH I HAVE TRIED TO PATCH/UPGRADE BUT IT WILL NOT LET ME DO THIS,AS IT SAYS IT DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THIS VERSION , I HAVE SPOKE TO OTHERS ABOUT THIS AND THEY SAY THERE IS NO SUCH VERSION AS 1.0.0. IS THIS TRUE AND IF SO WHAT CAN I DO ?
