Diablo 2 v1.05b - How to use on Battlenet.

Just a bit of info for people wanting to play Diablo 2 on Battlenet and haven't heard of Daemon Tools before.

Goto ####://www.daemon-tools.com and download v2.47a.
This program works fine with every version of Diablo 2, including v1.05b on Battlenet, because it doesn't modify the game.exe

However, I have two cdrw drives (Yamaha 8824ez and HP7200) but the game only loads on the HP7200 and I dont know why, so I'm gonna have to find out.

Hope this is of some help to somebody. 8)

OK, I've just found out why my backup only works on one of my cd drives and discovered the fix.

If you have installed Daemon Tools and try to play Diablo 2, if nothing happens for a while, not even an "Insert CD" message do the following...

Press CTRL, ALT & DELETE. You should see Diablo2 and Game in the running tasks. End both of these. Goto your system properties\device manager and disable your gameport joystick.

The game should now run fine. I dunno why the joytick affects anything but its doing something that either Diablo2 or Daemon dont like.

I installed the daemon tool, and tried running d2, but I get a Unhandled Exception Access_Violation. I think I installed it properly and assigned the V386 Phantom CDRom to the correct letter, but I could be wrong. Can someone perhaps give me a more detailed precedure to get Diablo 2 to work with the daemon tool v2.47a please.

I think I saw the unhandled exception error in another post, but I may be wrong. You haven't tried using one of the no cd/fixed exe cracks on it have you? If so, try removing it (I dont know if they alter the game.exe because I've never used them) or re-installing Diablo 2.

Also, unless you are planning to run Diablo 2 or any other game from an image file on your hard drive, you dont need the virtual cdrom drive, so you can disable it from the Daemon Tools options.

If you still have problems, post here again, or theres a forum on the Daemon Tools website...
