RA2 is protected by a new version of SafeDisk, SD2. Prior to SD2, just about any good CDR compatible with CloneCD would work fine.

Now, a lot of CDR's will copy it and actually install, but the game will not start. You can use a fixed.exe to replace the original in the installed game directory.

To make a playable copy of any SD2 protected game, you need a CDR, for burning, base on the Phillips hardware technology. There are quite a few, so to avoid confusion as to what to buy, just get a Phillips burner, such as the 800 model. It's the burning phase, not necessarily the read phase, that's critical. Most drives will burn the image back, but the protection gets scrambled on the copy. This is why the game will not start without the game.exe replacement. Most of the time, these cracks can be downloaded from gamecopyworld.com. Just click on their game index and look for your particular game.
