ps2 backups

I purchased the neokey and the modchip for ps2 and neither of them work. I have experience soldering the chips but I have failed in completing the task and being able to play my ps2 backups. I have purchased back ups via internet of well known sites and they dont work on my ps2. I'm using the gameshark as the boot up disk but no success. Is there another modification that needs to be done to my ps2 or is it another swap trick.. Your help greatly appreciated. By the way I'm using nero as copy software.

Nero is fine for copying proven backups. The issue here might be on the word PROVEN. Dead dodgy downloaded backups (without condemning them all). If you've got an original PS2 game, esp. Silent Scope because it needs no patches and will thus copy with Nero, try that and see what happens.

I assume you've got an original CD game or two and that you are in a PAL region. Look the game up on http://www.megagames.com. If there is no patch listed for the PAL version, then it most likely can be copied by Nero. If patches are needed, download CDR-WIN; get the tuortial from the megagames site and patch the game to make it work. That should work. Then the downloads are rubbish or need patching because they are NTSC or something.

Let us all know how you get on.

There could be a problem with the chip installation. A way to check this is try a backup of a playstation 1 game in the ps2 or an original ps1 game. These boot without the need to do a cd swap in Action Replay 2 or Region-X. If these fail to boot the chip installation is knackered if they do boot your ps2 backups are duffers.
Hope this helps
