Help With FFX

I have an early model PS2 SCPH-10000 with an early mod-chip, not sure which...
It is a [NTSC/J] model, i recently purchased FFX from the US original, but it will not load...
I thought since it was an original NTSC that it should've worked..
But i don't know too much about this stuff, so if anyone can help me, i'd really appreciate it, don't want to waste US$50 for nothing..

well, what you got is a japanese ps2, which will of course only play japanese games. the early modchip you mention is most likely one of the neo type chips, which ONLY work for cdr copies.. no chance to play imports.
currently the only available chip to play original imports is the origa. you can check for info at www.origachip.com, and can order it from i.e. lik-sang.com.
the installation is quite hard to do, so consider having a professional do it.
