Help out a Confused Newbie

hey, I'm very confused now..
I have a DVD reader and burner (the Pioneer A03 or something), PrimoDVD, some blank DVD-R's and DVD-RW's. I also have a modded PS2 with a NEO2.2 from www.mod-chip.com. (I have a GS2 v. 1.91 and a GS2 v. 1.2.1) i've backed up normal PS2 games and played them fine before but now I notice that all the new (good) games have silver bottoms which I have picked up that are DVD's. Using a tutorial from psxcopyworld on burning a DVD with PrimoDVD, i copied Dynasty Warriors 3 (not EA [DVD]) to test it. it copied successfully but I cant get it to play. I've been hearing also about something of the TOC (which I think is Table of Contents) being bigger as an original or something. So if you could help me out, here are my questions:

1. Can I play a DVD game on a modded (neo2.2) Ps2?

2. Is there anything in the tutorial I may have missed that made the game copy incorrectly (the sizes of the original and the backup are identical)

3. Does Dynasty Warriors 3 have some sort of protection against it or something?

4. What's that about the "toc" and what do I have to do about it?

5. What should I do to boot the DVD-R? (keeping in mind my GS2 versions and Neo2.2 chip)

6. If #5's boot method is a long one, are there any shortcuts?

Thank you for your time.

1. Can I play a DVD game on a modded (neo2.2) Ps2?
ANSWER: Yes if it's the 8 wire mod

2. Is there anything in the tutorial I may have missed that made the game copy incorrectly (the sizes of the original and the backup are identical)
ANSWER: No - the tutorial is correct.

3. Does Dynasty Warriors 3 have some sort of protection against it or something?
ANSWER: No there is no protection currently on DVD games

4. What's that about the "toc" and what do I have to do about it?
ANSWER: You have to buy an original DVD copy of Devil May Cry 2 or Dead On Arrival to use as the boot disk after GS2 and before your smaller TOC DVD-R. These two games won't load any DVD-R with a larger TOC or they may load and play until the LBA limit of the original DVD TOC is reached.

5. What should I do to boot the DVD-R? (keeping in mind my GS2 versions and Neo2.2 chip)
ANSWER: Get the tutorial from ####://www.psxcopyworld.co.uk under Boot Methods or at www.ps2ownz.com

6. If #5's boot method is a long one, are there any shortcuts?
ANSWER: If there were, it would be documented. MESSIAH is the shortcut!

Thank you for your time.

Messiah huh?

Thanks Charlie,
I've been reading around and found that Messiah can load a DVD-R by just putting it in, same with other games. Sorry to bother you again, but I just have a few more questions to ask:

1. You can put in both CD-R and DVD-R backups and play them without swapping. Correct?

2. Do you need a GS2 w/ Messiah?

3. Where do you get Messiah?

4. Is the installation about as tough as the Neo2.2 installation? How many wires does it have?

5. What's the deal with Messiah clones?

do you happen to know the TOC of the original Demo disc that came with the ps2? I'm currently playing FFX and is using that DEMO disc to swap.
I don't really like the game to end until the LBA limit of the DEMO DISC TOC. anyway how do you go about checking the TOC size mate? fo I need a dvd writer? or just a dvd reader will do?

4. Is the installation about as tough as the Neo2.2 installation? How many wires does it have?
ANSWER: 23 wires - tougher.

5. What's the deal with Messiah clones?

ANSWER: A DVD reader is needed. Use the PROPERTIES function of Windows Explorer on the DVD in the drive. The Byte and GB value will be displayed. The Byte value matters when the DVD-R says 4.3GB as does the original!
