PSX Backup Help Needed

HELP

This is what I have:

Game Enhancer
Win98se 4.10.2222A
TDK 12/10/32 Firmware 1.08
Nero 5.5.5.1 TDK
CloneCD 3.2.3.1 (currently UNREGISTERED, if I can get it to work I will register it)

Media: TDK 12x (silver/blue)
Imation 12x 80 min

This is what I have done:

I tried to back up PSX game using both Nero (settings found on copy world site, and CloneCD (settings Default protected cd settings, same settings minus error tics).

This is the result:

I followed the instructions for the game enhancer. Works fine with Original games. Backups hang on the start screen. The original and backup look identical in windows explorer. The enhancer has a cd-rom reader and originals look normal. However all of my backups are reported to be music cds by game enhancer.

Help

Thanks in advance, I have searched the forums the last week or so and nothing I try seems to help. Any suggestions? What media should I use? Be specific, I have a best buy, circuit city, compusa, staples, officemax all nearby. Are the settings correct? Is the game Enhancer Junk?

This may be a dumb question but do you have a modchip, plugmod or a psx-change?? If you dont have one of the above and are trying to load from a cdr bootdisc or a gameshark,(game enhancer) without a modchip then it wont work.

The game enhancer that I have came from gamechips.com It is an external device that you plug in the back of your psx and it says it has modchip features. I don't know much about it but I was told by people on-line that it would do the trick.

your burner is compatable with clonecd so you shouldnt have any problems there. Most plugmods for PSX are crap you may want to invest in a internal modchip.

If you have an older model PSX you may have problems reading your backup! This is with the internal mod also.. The laser may have dropped! ( the track that the laser moves back and forth on is wearing away causing the laser to fall further away from the cd it is trying to read. Cds that you burn on your your PC are not the same quality as an original..

Maybe I can help. I have an instant action replay, which is the same as your game enhancer with a different name.

Yes it works like a mod chip, in a way, but you still have to do the swap thing to use it on backups. What you do is this....boot it up with a genuine game. The enhancer screen comes up.....scroll down to cd-rom and press start....the factory cd will boot up and it will show you the contents of the cd. Swap the game with your backup and press "x". Scroll back up to start game and press start.....your backup should now play.

I did notice on mine that sometimes if I hit a wrong button while doing this, it won't boot up properly.

Boot to factory cd.
go to cd rom,
press start,
swap disks,
press "x",
go to "start game",
press start,
Play

I hope this helps
Tim

I have tried your sugestions and NO DICE. It is till not working. The PSX is model number SCPH-1001 The game Enhancer is (2M) Ver1.1 The Gamechips URL now points to www.gamegizmo.com where they give the same guarenties that their new stuff will work that they gave me about the one I got. I would really perfer not to buy an internal chip because of taking apart the psx, but well I do not know any more sugestions would be appreciated. Thanks
