I have the same problem it freezes at Kazas level, you walk through a door the screen gose black and you painfully realize you've just wasted hours , it sucks I'm looking for the answer too.

I figured out a fix for our problem... I picked up the playstation while it was froze, and slowly turned it upside down, then while I was holding it I lightly slapped its bottom..I had to do it a few times but then the game started back up and I could continue playing.. I guess it just needed a spanking lol ....
