Help me plz

Hi,
I have got a Jap version of crash bandicoot 2, and I want to be able to play it on my PS1, not the small one, without a mod chip, I have an equalizer, is it possible to update this to allow me to play it?
Please answer, whether it is a yes or a no, its just that I don't like having to play it on my PC using bleem!. I would rather NOT have a mod chip fitted if it is possible.
