Playable PS2 Backup's A Myth??
I have used CloneCD and a chipped PSX to play back-ups in the past. Now I bought the PS2 and heard unconfirmed reports that you can also backup original PS2 games and play them. Do I need a similar MOD-Chip for the PS2 and backup using CloneCD, CDRWin or Nero?

Yeah, i'm expecting my ps2, well today actually, but it still hasn't arrived yet >=( so i haven't really given the ps2 much consideration yet, although what i do know is that the mod-chips (to date) r not like ya standard psx mod-chip.
I dunno if u remember the old psx swap trick that worked with some of the older games (where u put in an original, swap it with the copy at the psx logo and then play the copied game from there) but all the new chips r allowing u to do is just that. Its basically allowing u to perform the swap trick which if u ask me is a total pain in the arse every time u want to play a copied game. The latest modchip i know of is the NEO 2 chip although i have heard that the updated model, the NEO 3 will soon be released. But i'm personally gonna wait for a new chip where u don't have to bother with all of the swapping crap, although i think thats gonna take a fair while to be developed, but'll probably be worth the wait. As far as i know u patch the games in a similar way as u did the psx protected games, but the games MUST be patched to use the swop trick. However, i don't have cd-clone (my writer is crap) so i dunno whether u need to patch ps2 games when using that, although i would suspect u probably would. Anyway, thats all i've really heard about the ps2, but i'm sure somebody else will be able to tell u a lot more about it. Hope that info is of some help 2 u, 4nim4l. |
