The modreplay you are referring to is for the PSX not the PS2

Buy a mod-chip and have some soldering wizard do it for you. Wait for NEO4 to be available (www.playstationmods.com). If it's a question of money, it's worth saving for.
Knife/Cog methods can destroy your PS2. |

HI,
The NEO4 is still in development, and there is still no def release date as such. The current mod is the NEO2.2 which is what i have and its been a great little chip, plays all my PS1 and PS2 backups, along with my REGION X as the BOOT CD you cant really get better then that at the mo. For info on all the NEO chips check out www.playstationmods.com - the home of the NEO chip. Anymore info you need?? just ask, but also make use of old topics from this forum there is so much great infomation which will help you on your way. Cheers Dal |

S-Box and Neo-Key (if that's what you meant by non-solder mod-chip.
As others and I have said before, take a solderede modchip because its effects reach further than externally applied solutions. This is because direct soldering to appropriate points on the motherboard is more purposeful than the limited (but not ineffective) reach of the USB port. |

Even if you use sbox or NeoKey you stilll need to solder one wire. Pretty easy. Just dont overburn it. NeoKey works fine with me but I never try the EA titles

The neo key would probally be alot easier for you to install yourself if you have little or no solder experience, the solder points for the jumper wire are easier to reach than some points required for chip installation. The release of the universal ea patcher really helped this usb modchip as far as booting games especially the titles by EA sports and midway. From a installers view, before i would go through the trouble of totally disassembling a v4 PS2 for 1 wire i would just as soon connect the other 7 wires and not bother with having to patch games but this is strictly my point of view... good luck with whatever you decide.
