HP DVD+RW Internal Drive (Model DVD100i): is it worth it?

I have a GS2 ver. 1.4 and NEO2.5 that plays DVD-R. With the DVD+RW drive will i be able to do straight DVD to DVD copy and be able to play with GS2 and NEO2.5?

I'm not confident of the GS2/1.4; versin 1.9 is known to work for DVDRs.

The DVD+RW drive leaves you without the capabaility of making DVD-Rs. The DVD-RWs are re-usable and I've heard that they do work in the PS2 but with those restrictions on the drive's versatility, it certainly wasn;'t my choice.

Theres a review of the hp writer on the above site, there seem to be quite a few drawbacks with this drive & they do recommend the pioneer DVDR over this, although it does state that they copied a PS2 DVD with the hp drive & it worked perfectly. The choice is yours but £600 is an awful lot of money to risk.

Hope this helps.
