PSone doesnt work
I installed a mod chip into my new PSone with the instructions from modchipz.com and now my pSone doesnt work at all. I have double and triple checked for shorts or mis-wiring. I am getting 7.5vdc from the power supply and the laser does light up, but nothing else. Not even a power light. Can someone please help me?

Thats kinda funny. I had the same exact thing happen to me. The only difference was my ps1 worked for 3 hours before going out. Except i got my modchip from www.mod-chip.com. The little lazer light turnns on but nothing else. No power light. And when you open up the cover, the light is still on but it dosen't do that with a working playstation. I had the same trouble, couldn't figure out what was wrong. I took out the modchip and tried it. It didn't work. Dissisembled and reesemmbled the ps1 about 5 times to make sure everything was right. Took it back to walmart late at night so no techs were working, some chick that works in sewing ended up getting stuck working electronics. i just said it stopped working and wanted another one. She looked inside the box to see that everything was there, it was. She didn't even take it out of the box! They didn't have anymore so I ended up getting cash. As soon as I got the cash i got the HELL out of there as fast as I could. I went to target and baught a brand new one. Installed the modchip in there again and its been working fine ever sence. The only difference when installing the modchip is I left the mother board in the case when I sodered. Mabey that was it but I doubht it.

Have you tried asking the place where you brought the mod-chip from as they usally know of any faults that might occur and it could be acase of changing the placement of 1 wire, Find out it doesn't hurt to ask!!

Sounds to me like you may have blown a fuse while installing the mod chip.
All PSX models have a main fuse on the power supply board, this is probably ok but worth checking, the rest of the fuses are located on the PSX motherboard. There are about half a dozen of them and they dont look like normal fuses at all. What you are looking for are small black cubes that are soldered directly to the board, they are about 3 - 4mm square. You will need to check these with a multimeter and if they are open circuit then either replace them or solder a thin link wire across both the terminals. I would recommend that you try to replace any blown fuses with one's of the same value as the help to protect different parts of the board, the trouble with using a wire link is that you dont know the current rating of the wire. It wont cause any problems to the normal running of the machine but if things do go wrong then the wire could take longer to blow than a correct rating fuse, and more damage could be caused by this.

diffenetly check back with the company you bought the mod from, sometimes you can get a bad modchip, see if you can exchange it and try again.
