How do you know when to use a patch??

How do you know when a game needs a patch?? Some of you here have said that you didn't need a patch for a certain game, how did you know? Is there some kind of program I can download?

You need to patch a game if:

1.The game is protected. You can find out if a game is protected by going to:
####://megagames.com/psx/psx_protected_games.htm
Then choose your region (US, Europe, etc...) and see if the game you are trying to copy is protected.

2. You also need to apply a patch if you are copying a PAL game and want to play it on NTSC system or the other way around.

If the game is not protected and you are not trying to convert between ntsc and pal then you dont need to patch a game. So if the EA game you were burning is NTSC and you were gonna use it on NTSC system there would be no reason to patch it since it is not protected.
