Sucessfully modchipped my unit! (ORIGA)

just for information:

I just sucessfully chipped my Japanese PS2 using an Origa ver 1.25 Jap!

For CharlieThanks!--> ur the one who really brought me to this!)
You're right! Origa is definitely for the Jap consoles. It reads all games format (CD-R, DVD-R, Originals -->CD and DVD). No swap! for the Original games... Simple swap for the back-ups!

Wow! It's really great!
And the GT3, Onimusha DVD-Rips now runs perfectly in my console! And DVD-R's runs smooth with it. (tested some DVD-R's from hongkong: ONIMUSHA, SILENT HILL 2 and METAL GEAR SOLID 2!!!)

It has only one major drawback!
HARD TO SOLDER!!! Whew!
It took me 3-4 hours to solder it! and 30 minutes to review!

Anyway, If you have a japanese console... then origa will be it.. It will turn your PS2 into a Universal Game Machine PS2.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

Hi, I already modded my jap 10000 with an origa 1.25 for about one week.
Sometimes I have some problems with several games I've tested.
During loading nothing happens and the game freazes.
It happens more often with games (cd-r) like Moto gp2 or Winning Eleven 5 Final Evo.

A friend of mine got a Pal V3 and an origa 1.1 and both games that I mentioned, work perfectly. (But on the other hand he can't see Kuzco anymore!!!!?????????

Then other friends have Pal V4 and they have many probs with the origa 1.1 (no more sound, original imports don't work, to do the swap u have make manualy.

Please help!

Yah! it sure did paid off!
Thanks charlie!
Now one problem would be the DVD-Burner...

To SPY_007z:
Regarding the Silvers (Hongkong), its about $10.00 (i heard from a friend). I don't really bought them... it was from my friend. But i haven't seen such copies here... My friend bought it from Manila (Capital of Philippines), and i'm far.
I used a DVD region X (Jap). And also tested my friends DVD region X Us version. And still works!
He!he!he! If only you can see my friends face! (amazement!)
Hope you'll recieve your origa soon!
And Happy playin!

Jumpstart,

I've just ordered to for a couple of 15000's I've got kicking around.
It doesn't come with diagrams when i recieved it.
I just followed the diagrams posted in www.origachip.com. But there are two diagrams(pictures) ver 1.0 and ver. 1.12/1.2 and i was sort confused since mine is ver 1.25.
What i did was e-mailed Marco and Gigi and attached those to pics... And they responded!
here's the response theyd give me:

> I just recently ordered a JAP Origachip ver. 1.25 from www.origachip.com
for my JAP PS2.
> I got an SCPH 15000 Model PS2.
> Just need some information which diagram should i follow?
> (Just wanted to know where the Chip (Origa) will be put.
> Attached are two diagrams (from origachip.com).
> 1st is vers. 1.00 and 2nd is version 1.12/1.2

Hi,

The diagrams that you have send, there are the same... P and M signal are
vcc and gnd (+ - power). If you don't want use wire and make a fast
installation, you can use the first diagram (solder directly on the board).

For more information, write me again.

Regards.

Cool huh?
That's what i call customer support!

Hey Charlie!
I envied those units with 3000x boards...
If you look closely to their diagram, they have alternative points to solder for the 8 wires of the CPU! Isn't it cool?
I'll have to look for 3000x and make some tests with it!

Hey Jumpstart!

I'm actually waiting for them to have a no-swap for the 3000x boards. According to them, it works only with a swap method.
I'm planning to stick a Origa 1.25 in my PS2 as well but unfortunately I'm looking at the diagrams and the only part that has me confused is the connections for Q1-Q3. They are connected together? I'm kinda torn between whether I should wait for the new Origa or should I just put the 1.25 in. Decisions...

I also have a new PS2[US] which is waiting for a no-swap Origa chip as well!

Thanks. I also got a reply from Gigi to my open post on his Forum.

I'd get a 1.25 now because I think there might be problems with the legal stuff. Lik-sang has them in stock and I don't know even if they will dry up.

Charlie or anybody?

Today I phoned to my installator and he told me that the problems I have(games freezing during loading times and after replays) could be resolved with a adjustment of the laser.

Charlie do u have an idea?

Do someone here has an origa on a pal V4?

Yes I agree with your Installer. The laser has to work within a different range for CD-Rs and DVD-Rs and calibration is advised. It makes the laser work harder and there is a potential penalty a year or so downstream.

To avoid this or maximise laser life, I believe that AZO CD-Rs cause less laser wear than other CD types. It's to do with the cleanness with which the CD-R is burned (zeroes are burned to make the spot opaque to the read laser reflection). If there is to much "melt" on either side of the opaque bit then the laser has to work harder. It's a complciated subject.

Hey Jumpstart!

Something called to my attention on the origachip.com site. They say that on some of the 18000-15000's console, it would require a swap using the RegionX. You don't need to swap right?

Hmm... Perhaps I should put it in the 10000 that I have. I ordered 3 Origa 1.25 chips from lik-sang so I'll happily put em all in those systems. Hopefully my 15000 won't require the swap method.
