what's the difference??

Does anybody know what the difference is between the NTSC-2-Pal Patch and the Swap Trick Patch. Does the type of patch determine what method you use to backup games?? Thank You!

So can you use the NTSC patch to make a backup of a US PS2 game and be able to play it using a Game Shark v 1.9?
