Help, Darnit.................HELP!
heres the deal.
i have spent more time reading and experimenting with many sites including this one on just how to go about burning my backups so that they may work on my DC. as of yet, i have been unsuccessful. i apologise in advance for being needy of the same problems that may have been answered by many of you, im sure, countless amounts of times. my troubles are specific. here is what my problem is: -unpacking has been no problem. winrar does the trick. i get the .cdi perfectly. -i have followed the instructions listed in the faq section regarding the burning process with discjuggler, and i have not been able to find specs on the settings that this needs to be done in (i.e. mode, block, offset, toc)...trying mode 2 with a 2048 block and in a cdrom-xa mode has not solved my problem. -my utopia cd burned perfectly. BAM no problem. did what it asked me to do, and i have yet to have an issue with this....yes, i have tried using the boot cd first and then the game, with obviously no luck. -this is not solely on one game, but a total of five that i have tried different processes with, so it isnt the games. -my DC is from June 2000, so its not the date. -cdrwin has been unsuccessful in burning any .iso cds with as well. i would truly appreciate a step by step tutorial on this. i have spent more than a week breaking my brain on this process and wish to finally put this to rest. i am sure that all of you are bombarded with requests like mine, i implore you to give it one more shot, or at least point me in the right direction. your help is greatly appreciated. |

Why don't you install Nero, convert CDIs to NRG format using CDI2NERO and just double click the resulting NRG file and click burn?

thankx for the advice, i have to try that out.
in the meantime, i did find a small solution to my problem that should have probably been obvious to many, but in case if some one else encounters this problem.... since the files are not really packed in a true "rar", "ace", or "zip" format, it really cannot identify the true size of what you are unpacking. why is this important? well, if the game is suppossed to be 001-009, and you only have it up to 007 or whatever, it will unpack that much. leaving off the rest of the information of the file. when you attempt to burn the image, whether it be in .cdi or .bin/cue-.iso, it will not detect that the file is corrupt or incomplete. therefore, you are left with handy little shiny coasters to place your bottle of vodka that you've gulped down in frustration with the whole process. this information dawned on me after reading one of those handy .nfo files which does, in most cases, state how many files should be part of the cd. so now i have been able to burn the images of those files that have been in .cdi format. BUT, i am still having issues with the .bin/cue files. i have tried winiso to write the .bin/.cue image to an .iso, and then use roxio cd creator to burn the image. these methods have not worked. can i get some help with that? added footnote to the frustrated: with burning an image with discjuggler, turn your settings on about 4x-6x, but not any higher. i have a TDK 16x burner that just refuses to burn these images any faster. also, dont touch the settings in the advanced tab, as tempting as this can be, it will only cause you to become more frustrated. after i obtain further information, hopefully by some helpful folks here, i will definetely be posting some step by step instructions for the novice folks like me. thanks again for helping out. please post some answers if you have any. |
