Im having problems with all echelon releases!...
Im having problems burning most of the echelon releases! They are all made the same way, with a small header and a single audio file. The small header is the problem, it is only 300 sectors (4 secs) in size and it appears that my burner cannot write anything smaller then 302 sectors, thats why I get "illegal field" errors in discjuggler. I also tried CDIfix but it appears that it cannot fix it because there is only one audio file. I also used cdi2nero but I get a similar error in nero too.
I know that this might be a somewhat advanced question but does anyone know if there is a way to get around that? (other then buying a different burner)

Try dumping the release .CDI file to your hard drive using CDMAGE, then rebuild the ISO image using mkisofs. Once you have an ISO to work with, use BIN2BOOT to create a new .CDI file. The new CDI file may work in your drive because it doesn't have the short audio track at the beginning.

It's been my experience that banding in the data area is indicative of a bad burn, usually either by a burner program sending the wrong commands to the CD burner or just a defective CD burner. I had such banding and bad discs when I was using a defective Memorex CDRW drive (the head's rails weren't lubricated enough and the head would get stuck leaving a blank unburned spot on the disc, and eventually would break free, skipping ahead to burn more.

Pylos, read this http://dcxeal.virtualave.net/buffer.html , it explains how to fix the small sectors error. And you dont even have to use tricky patches.

Thanks for your replies. I forgot to check back here to see if anyone had responded to my message. I was able to get wsb2k2 to work by following a guide (Fool Proof CDI Image Burning Guide by jo12345) I found at: http://luna.spaceports.com/~selfboot/Tutorial_Index/tutorial_index.htm I'll keep the link you posted as a future resource.
Basically, I went to a DOS prompt and used CDIRIP to extract the CDI image. It gave me 2 files: taudio01.wav and tdata02.iso. I then used CUTTRACK on taudio01.wav. Then I used CDRHACK (cdrhack is a 'hack' of cdrecord) to burn the audio track with the following command: cdrhack dev=1,1,0 -speed=4 -multi -audio -swab taudio01.wav Next, I ran the following command: cdrecord dev=1,1,0 -msinfo to see if the same LBA was displayed as the one given by cdirip. Finally, I used CDRECORD to burn the iso with the following command: cdrecord dev=1,1,0 -speed=4 -xa1 tdata02.iso After all of that was finished, I had a working copy of wsb2k2. The method above has worked for several burns that were giving me problems. But now enters NCAA2K2. I first tried DiscJuggler to see if the cdi would burn right. It appeared as though everything was fine. I could see all of the files on the CD from within Windows, however, when I put it in my Dreamcast, it goes to the audio screen. I tried to use the method above to fix it, but after I extract the CDI, I don't get a taudio01.wav or a tdata02.iso. I get 2 bin files and 2 cue files. No waves. So, now I don't know what to do with this one. I made like 16 coasters trying to get wsb2k2 to work. I hope that this one doesn't take as much. My Dreamcast was manufactured in November 2000. Up til now, I haven't had to modify the images to Data-data discs. Most backups have worked fine for me. Just these latter ones giving me probs. Anyone have any ideas. Would someone verify for me the file structure on your ncaa 2k2 burn. I don't have any directories, just a bunch of files (1006 to be exact). Most of the files are quite small and of the type IFF. What the heck is an IFF file. Thanks for your help. |

Damn tony hawk 2 is pissing me off, I did the entire step 5 of the CDi burn proof tutorial and actually got the game to load with utopia. It went all the way up to 100% and then the little bitch swung back to the DC options screen. Argh
TH2 is the only game I still havent been able to burn, it defeated me about 10 times already (i have made 10 coasters for it) but I still dont feel like giving up. I could just buy the damn game, its pretty cheap in a store near me, but then I wouldnt have accomplished anything, I just wasted time and money, I really feel gridlocked hehe. O well, I guess I'll go try step 4. Later...
