Modified Utopia BootCD Won't Boot my Nov'00 DC

I recently bought a new DC with a manufacture date of Nov 2000. So far I have been unable to get any CDRs to boot in it. I understand that the "new" DCs require the new backup layout, and I've tried that unsuccessfully (It DID boot successfully in an old one). I've downloaded a modified BootCD CDI that's supposed to work in the "new" DCs, but even that won't work. A kind Forum user, muppey, also sent me another copy of the modified BootCD today, and I had no luck with it either. In all cases, the modified BootCDs (2 of them), and the one modified game won't boot in my new DC, but WILL in an old DC.

Has anyone heard of an issue like this before?
Could I have possibly bought the only "new" DC that can't play backups? Of course it could be me, but since not even the modified BootCDs work, I don't think it is.

Please help me with your constructive feedback.

I have yet to try to configure post-10/00 DCs to work with backups.

I have heard dozens of rumors and dozens of ways around it, yet have never tried it myself. Keep doing what you are doing, by posting questions here and there... Check other forums as well (cd-guide.com).

Still, my best suggestion in these type of scenerios is to take it back and find a backup compliant DC (pre-10/00)... You CAN find them...

I've already got an "old" one (Aug 2000). I bought it around a week after the other "new" one. I'll probably just sell the "new" one on EBAY and recoup some of the money I wasted on it. It just bugs me that I can't figure out how to play backups on it.

I have an August 2000 model also and it does not work with cd-rs unless you use the new dc selfboot method thats been described on this board a few times. I hear October 2000 being thrown around as the cutoff date but it seems this isn't true, at least in my case.
