MechWarrior 4: Black Knight Update 1 fixed MW4x.exe please

I've been reading all these things and the fact is,
*You can't patch mw4 without the original files
*If you got the original files you can patch and then crack
*You can't patch with the HUD patch installed
*You can crack MW4 3.0 and BK 1.0 cause they are available
*Try uninstalling MW4 if it won't patch and even try regediting and removing all mechwarrior stuff, (worked for me) But i'm not responsable
*I got the IS pack downloaded today but it won't work not possible yet to make a perfect copy
*No keygenerator available for the registration part.
*I'm having the IS pack shipped today so i can finally play it soon and test those lovely protections
*If anyone from Microsoft reads this, don't bother cause when u get here i got the original.
Ps Nice job on the copyprotection but someone will crack it anywayz

If you don't wanna crack it and have it legally and all that bullshit you should use clone-cd to copy the game, works for mw4 and BK and that patches allright.
Please remember you may only backup if you have the original cd lol.

The following comments are applicable to the U.S. ORIGINAL RETAIL game ONLY, I do not currently know if other country versions will render a different result. However, based on the results I have seen thus far and after examining the crack code, etc. I seriously doubt how these "NO-CD Cracks" can work for their specified purpose, that is, to run the game without a CD.

After a FRESH NEW (clean register, etc) installation of MW4 (NO patches, cracks), then applying the BK addon (NO patches, cracks), finally applying the IS-MechPak and proceeding to replace the MW4.EXE and MW4x.EXE with the Deviance "NO-CD Cracks", found at the Siedler site and other locations, the same were found NOT to work, the game WILL ask for the CD after applying the cracks and it will NOT settle for a "backup" either, unless, the same is a true 1:1. So, obviously these "no-cd cracks" appear NOT to be no-cd cracks nor backup cracks for use with non true 1:1 backups. In other words, they do NOT work, at least, with a U.S. ORIGINAL RETAIL game.

BTW, I personally do not care for nor require a no-cd crack, I have originals, true 1:1 backups and can make my own no-cd if need be, as well I am posting this to help anyone who is not having any luck with these "no-cd cracks" and perhaps not due to them doing something wrong or being stupid, etc.

To eliminate confusion and supplement my findings, here are the MD5 and version info for the ORIGINAL and CRACK files tested by me, if someone has gotten these to work using a U.S. ORIGINAL RETAIL game which match the MD5, version, etc below, although I seriously doubt this will be the case, please say so.

Hmmmm, well how about:

Just to mention a couple. If, you check the two above urls, you will see they clearly indicate "NO-CD". Other locations through out the net are also billing it as a "NO-CD", as well. I'm somewhat surprised you ask me this question, you usually seem to be a very observant person, guess we all have a day off sometime.

Also, you either missed my point or I didn't make myself clear enough. These "NO-CD" cracks do NOT work withOUT a CD in the drive and NOT just any CD, the CD has to be, at least, a true 1:1 copy if not the original, which obviously defeats the whole purpose of using a "NO-CD" in the first place, not to mention, if someone has a 1:1 copy and still needs to use a CD with the "NO-CD" crack, why bother to use the crack and not the original EXE to begin with, that would make NO sense. These cracks are NOT to bypass MP checks, etc so that don't fly either.

Since as you state, you don't have the game and use the term "probably", your information is not based on fact nor personal knowledge of this game, therefore, it must be assumption on your part.

I honestly don't know what is so seemingly difficult for you to understand about what I'm saying. Actually, it IS simple, the cracks do NOT work for their intended purpose, at least, not as advertised and NOT on U.S. Retail versions, which is the only version I can currently speak on with certainty, since I have tested with the same.

Considering, that the cracks, as per their version info, are the U.S. EXE's, it would be reasonable to expect them to work, at least, on a U.S. version. DEViANCE, as you say, may not do no-cd cracks and just strip commercial protections. However, if the said stripping of the commercial protection does NOT allow the game play with anything less than a perfect 1:1 copy (not just a simple copy, otherwise, that would make it a backup crack), then it's obvious the commercial protection stripping has not been accomplished correctly. Also considering the cracks are not serving any other purpose, such as to circumvent an MP check, etc, then the answer IS simple, the cracks do NOT work.

The cracks, as advertised, aside from being misleading do NOT work, at least, as already stated not on U.S. retail versions. If, the average person sees "NO-CD" it's reasonable for them to expect the crack to be a no-cd crack, meaning, the game will NOT require a cd in the drive to play it, for that person to expect otherwise, is not reasonable.

If, the cracks were labeled wrong, fine, crap happens and I for one am not getting paid for this, so whoever needs a working crack gets to live without it for now, not the end of the world. My intention was/is to forewarn people who may encounter this problem with these cracks, which is, I believe, part of this forum's purpose.

I for one, have given this matter waaay more time than I expected or wanted to and I'm sure you have, as well. So, if you still disagree or have a difference of opinion, I suggest, we agree to disagree now.

Yes, I was/am talking about the IS-MPak, seems we're on the same wavelenght now.

We're now both basically saying pretty much the same thing. Some people were/are talking about the IS-MPak and refering to the DEViANCE no-cd cracks for it, I was trying to warn people that these cracks would not work with the IS-MPak, at least, not with the U.S. retail version of it.

I haven't had time to test the cracks with the stand alone patches yet, so I do not currently know if the cracks do work with them or not. I will try to test that later this week if possible.

IF, the cracks do work with the PR3.0/PR1.0 stand alone patches and not with the PR3.0/PR1.0 from the IS-MPak, that would be very weird though.

For all intended purposes, if the cracks work for one, it should work for the other. The IS-MPak CD is not used after you install the contents, after install you need to use the MW4 or BK CD just like before. All the IS-MPak does is add 4 Mechs, 1 Weapon, 1 Electronic Componant and 2 MP maps.

The PR3.0 for MW4 and PR1.0 for BK are included in the IS-MPak and are identical (as per MD5 comparison) to the PR3.0 and PR1.0 stand alone patches available for download from Micro$oft. As a matter of fact, if you notice, the cracks indicate the same version as the already updated original EXE's, that is, same version after applying the PR3.0 and PR1.0 updates from the IS-MPak, meaning, the cracks were made for the same EXE versions.

I know you said you don't have the game, so you don't have a reason to have the IS-MPak and it can be difficult therefore to follow when you don't have the CDs to look at the contents to compare, test, etc. So, that's cool.

You made a reasonable suggestion, regarding emailing DEViANCE. However, I believe, there is no need for that at the moment and I'll leave any emailing up to someone who really wants/needs the no-cd cracks. As I said, I personally do not require them and my original objective has already been accomplished, thanks for the suggestion though.

To those who do email DEViANCE on this, here's a quote from the DEViANCE .nfo file:

"DEViANCE DOES NOT DO TECHNICAL SUPPORT, NEVER EVER!"

So, don't hold your breath expecting a reply, if they do reply fine, if not, move on.
