Hi,
right I've looked at a few sites and I just wanna find out some more before I think about doing anything. I know you probably get asked these questions alot so feel free to flame - I don't care ![]() 1: How hard it chipping a x-box? I assume it's just soldering in a new chip. Would you have to install extra software to run backups? What is the best chip out there? 2: I have heared that the x-box can be unstable, how dose chipping affect this? Are there things I would need to install to help issues? 3: With the games that will fit on a CD can a, cheaper, CD be used? 4: Will a chipped x-box have any problems with connecting to other x-boxes? 5: I have read somewhere that you can update the media player or something, dose this mean I could put a DivX file on a CD and then play it on a X-box? 6: I have also noticed talk of emulators for different systems avalable. Which systems are avalable? How do you go about runing the ROMs? 7: Backing up games ..... I have read that you connect your x-box via a normal Lan lead and put the whole DVD across. Is there a way to read straight from the DVD? 8: If I connect the box up to a vid and then a TV (I have only one scart socket and it is normaly ocupied by sky) will I have the same problem as the PS2 with the copywrite protection? 9: UK suppliers of chips. links please 10: I read that they were trying to get Linux on a x-box did they succed? Thanks in advance. -How. |

1) There are three ways to do this.
Buy a modchip and solder it in Buy a solderless modchip that you dont have to solder. (this also depends on your XBox ver) Or flash your XBox's TSOP (still need a modchip) 2) I don't think its unstable. I've only had it frezze on me once. And that was long befor I chipped it. 3) Look at xbox game size list post for game sizes. 4) No 5) Yes 6) I'm really not in to that, but I bet some one here will be able to tell ya. 7) No, a PC DVD-Rom can not read the XBox game format. 6) Are you talking about macro-vision? My chip dose not trun it off, but I'm told the X2 dose. 9) I'm sure our member DUDE can help you with UK suppliers. 10) Yes

Uh sorry if I lead you to think that I had one I will be purchesing one next month..... so I'll check the version after purchess.
As for the mod chips I mean solderless sounds good but if the performance is less then I will solder. So as far as backing up is concerned you have to ftp the disk everytime you want to make a backup - trust me with my PS it was a lot I have this thing for scratching discs. or once the disc is placed on a normal DVD-R can it be then coped just as a normal disk? On the emu front I ment like playing my old megadrive favs on it. "6) Are you talking about macro-vision? My chip dose not trun it off, but I'm told the X2 dose." Do you mean 8 by that? If macro-vison is that shifting of colours yes Thanks again! -How. |

uk mod supplier
www.xdvds.lunarpages.com/xbox/index.php my uncle has used this site had a courier collect the xbox was chiped then sent back via courier. he's very impressed with the service. also as far as backups go. if you use the data burn method ( check stickys) you can directley copy from that backup without needing to ftp. however if you use iso method you will have to ftp each time or keep the game on you'r pc hdd which takes up valuable space. you should be able to play games on you'r xbox if you choose to install linux as you'r os. however i have not tried this so i'm uncertain how to do it' plus i think it's a shame to ruin a perfectley good xbox by installing linux on to it. if you want to use linux i would sudgest installing it on a pc.
hey it's you'r decision but that's my oppinion. |
