does anyone else having problems with ver 1-3 ps2 playing dvd-r backups?

Ya know what Tyler. You're allright. Puttin up with us newbies that ask all sorts of questions. My niece and nephew finally talked some sense into me and I'll be gettin a mod chip hopefully sooner than later. I'll probably sell off the antique ver 1. I must say though I got mine on first day issue and seemed to hold up better than others. I have heard plenty of horror stories about the first few versions frying really quick. And thanks to your posts Tyler at least I will be dealing with the more reputable businesses when I do get a chip installed.
