whatddyaknow? I had to start over the game becouse of this, just like you. I only noticed G-man watching me at the middle of the game (tv). Of yourse i saw a guy standing in unreachable places staring at me, but it wasn make sense so I just went ahed without noticing that was G-man . He is rather a mystery to me. Speaking senseless things and he always carry that black suitcase. And he havent had a shower since HL1, becose he wears the same blue suit ever since . Maybe Gordon really became a hitman, that G-man uses whenever he likes. Drops gordon to a city full of minsters to clear it out

ok the thing is that as we know, at the end of hl1 gordon accepts to work for him as he has no choice, but at no point in hl2 does he receive an "assingment" does he, so hes really following he gut, and not rlly working for him but without knowing he is, obviously someone asked GMAN to destroy the guy from C17 and GMAN put gordon in that train to C17 (which i think is exactly just after he gets off the train that goes to nowhere at the end of hl1) so many questions... cant wait till hl3

Remember that dialogue at the beginning of HL2? That one that start with "Rise and shine Dr. Freeman..."? What is all that nonsense mean? I dont get it. Gman is talking about some job, and that my time has come or what...
Anyway I think the mission is to fight off the alien infestation, to liberate earth. Killing Breen was only a sideeffect, as I see. But what's in it for Gman?
I will start the game over again and listen to those Tv commercials Breen made at the start of the game like "Point insertion" and "Our Benefactor". He was talking about we have the secret to live forever, just we must wait. And things like that. Maybe that will clear things a bit...

Exclamation Half-Life 2 The G-Man

After playing Half-Life 2 through a couple of times I think that the G-Man is an alien like the Vortigaunts a.k.a. the alien slaves from the first Half-Life (the ones that shoot electricity at you) because throughout the game there are numerous parts where you see the G-Man communicating/talking to the Vortigaunts through a T.V. At the start of the game and as well as the fact that he can move around the place so quickly for example the bit where you get the boat for the first time you drive down the river for a while and you see the G-Man looking at you from a balcony then about 10 kilometers down river hes watching you again as if he somehow beat you there. When you try to follow him he seems to vanish without a trace and what's up with the way he talks? speeding up and then slowing down as if he isn't comfortable with human speech like it says in the prima guide?

ok, Obviously the benefactor was that xen creature we see at the end of HL2, maybe the rise and shine bit has to do at the end of hl1 when he accepts he goes unconscious and stays in that train and wakes up in that other train?

Lightbulb

Possible, yes. Trains must have some mystical value in HL
But that was way back in past, becouse Eli's hair all gone gray and even Alyx mentions that Gordon cant remember her becouse she was only a kid when that plot happened back in Black Mesa. Approx 5 years have passed since I think. A total invasion of earth cant happen in a jiffy, or is it?
Did you read the articles on the billboards scattered around C17? They say something about a "7 hour war", and that the "resistance is futile" Borg style . So there is much more behind this, than the obvius. This game is so greatly made. You must look at the very little, seemingly not worthy, informations to piece together the real story. The billboards, the TV commercials, the conversations accross the game, everything holds a little piece of a huge puzzle.
And what about the ending? that begins with the time stopping at the explosions of the citadell, G-man sais "Time?..." and sais aomething about some benefactors interested in Gordons "services". And G-man "have taken the liberty to choose from them". I'm completly confused
Now I'm desperate to find out what is the real story !
I will go through the game another time (its 5 now ) and write down all the little pieces of informations, trying to find out the story!
If I find out more, I swear I will tell you
