For those that never get coasters plz read

Hi peeps...

Ok I have been burning a lot of xbox games for testing and well I'm disapointed so far...

1. Mad Dash Racing ... worked 1st try (Used Discjuggler latest ver. and iso burning)

2. MK Deadly Alliance ... worked 1st try (Used PrimoDVD latest ver. and iso burning)

3. Blinx ... worked 1st try used multi-iso image and iso burning with DiscJuggler

4. spiderman ... I have tried every method mentioned in this board and all different kind of software and media and still the movie freezes after you start the game.

5. Rallisport Challenge. Tried different software and media and gives the "Disc could be damaged or dirty" error. Haven't tried data burning yet though.

5. Collin McRae Rally 3 ... worked 1st try with iso burning under DiscJuggler.

6. Muraku ... worked 1st try in iso burning with RecordNow Max latest ver.

7. Racing Evoluzione ... worked 1st try with DiscJuggler and iso burning.

8. Oddword: Munch's Oddysee ... worked 1st try with DiscJuggler and iso burning.

9. Mech Assault ... worked 1st try with iso burning and PrimoDVD latest ver.

10. Dead or Alive EBV ... worked 1st try with iso burning and RecordNow Max.

11. Genma Onimusha ... Tried every method and every software and different media nd no luck. Movies will always freeze. is either one or the other.

12. Dead or Alive 3 ... Tried everything and no luck. (Just gives a black screen)

13. Vexx ... At first movies would freeze. Then it would give a black screen. However it worked great with data burning method and RecordNow Max.

I also have tried turning "In Game Reset" option off everywhere where it is "on" under settings/info on Evox v1.8.3285 and it did not help. It helped with Vexx to get it to boot but only for that game.

Also tried burning at slowest speed and no help either.

Also I got a bios for X-Ecuter V1 on the net and flashed it and it did not help. And I tried EvolutionX Bios 2.6 for 1.0 Xbox and it did not help.

Here is my setup.

-Xbox v1.0 w/ original hard drive
-Evox latest ver.
-Modchip is X-Ecuter v1
-Currently Evox bios 2.6 (I belive is the latest for 1.0 consoles?)
-Network setup (Ethernet to Ethernet without going to hub. Gives nice speeds up to 11000KB/s)
-Burner is DVR-105 Pioneer with 1.0 bios
-Media (Vermatim, TDK, and Princo DVD-Rs and DVD-RWs)

For now I don't belive is either the type of media or the bios. However it could be the modchip perhaps? Is too old and it may get detected? Although turning the modchip off once the game has booted did not help either.

Now if it isn't the modchip it could be the Evox version I'm using perhaps?

If anyone has the same setup as me let me know what bios, burning software, and settings you are using to make successful backups with the games mentioned above that I have problems with.

I wouldn't be too disappointed when you only have 3 outta 13 as duds. Seems your methods are good enough for the other 10 so I would suspect bad rips on the 3.
-Network setup (Ethernet to Ethernet without going to hub. Gives nice speeds up to 11000KB/s)
Avoiding a hub has microscopic speed gains. Using a hub only slows down your network the amount of time it takes electricity to run through it which could probably be measured in milliseconds. BTW network speed is usually in bits not bytes!

I test the speed with FlashFXP which measures it in Kilobytes

I used to get lest than 1MB/s when using DHCP connection. meaning my Xbox would get an IP adress from my ISP DHCP server. Of course connection was through my HUB just like my second PC.

Now using Ethernet to Ethernet connection and with stattic IP address I get from 5000KB - 11000KB

Now the disappointing thing about those 3 games is that I have tried just about everything and they just won't work properly. Also no one else seems to be having problems with those rips.

However the results seem to be the same for my Xbox w/ X-Ecuter V1 and my cousin's Xbox with a Matrix modchip.

So now that I saw the same results for both different consoles I think it might be the media after all... mmm I'll see if I can get some expensive Sony DVD-Rs to try. BTW those games also have problems running even from the Xbox HD.

Saulin, the first thing you have to do is take out that worthless NVIDIA Geforce4 you got. Take it back and get your self a nice ATI Radeon. (Sorry I just have to knock on NVIDIA every opportunity I get. )

Take a look at this post: DATA BURN method with screen shots

This method of burning games has yet to make a bad copy. Give it a try and let us know.

Well right untill now Nvidia kicked ass

But looks like the GF FX is total crap so yeah my next buy will be an ATI most likely. My next card should be the one that will allow me to use the best FSAA and Anisotropic filtering settings at a playable speed of course like 60FPS

Ok now going back to the topic. I have found a way to back up those games I believe...

Anyways instead of copying right from the CD to my PC. I used HDD Loader 1.0a and copied the games to the Xbox HD one by one since I have the retail HD only.

Once the game was copied to the HD I tested it from the HD and it worked great. I then FTP it to my PC and burned it with the DATA burning method and viola...

Spider-Man works
Rallisport Challenge works

So my guess is that the others should work with this method as well.

I don't know why they were giving problems with direct file copy from the CD to my PC HD though.

Interesting. I've never checked my speed on Flash but I will. I think I heard somebody else say they also had trouble with Spiderman dropped to hard drive without HDD Loader.

Either I'm confused or you are, cause I don't understand a few things here.

1. using DHCP is 11 times slower than a static IP?

2. how did your Xbox get a DHCP IP address from your ISP through a hub? do you mean DHCP through your ROUTER? why would you even connect to your ISP to network your comp and Xbox together for filesharing?

3. by ethernet to ethernet you mean straight from Xbox to comp?

I have NEVER liked NVIDIA's stuff from day one. I was kinda pissed when I found out that the best gaming system to date had an NVIDIA video card in it... Oh well...

Well good to see you got the games working fine.

1) I don’t know... I'm happy with my 600k, I'm in no hurry to get games done. Plus seeing how I use my wireless network to FTP into my XBox, I know my speeds go WAY down.

2)I think it will get an IP address by it self if you have your network set up right.
And your right you wouldn’t need to connect to your ISP for file sharing.

3) Yes straight from your XBox to your PC with a crossover cable.

1. 600K sounds realistic to me. I just can't believe running a DHCP service would be 11 times slower. I'll like to check that out and understand why if that's true.

2. well, setting your network "up right" is a pretty broad statement! The bottom line is the Xbox and comp need to know each others addresses whether the Xbox runs DHCP and assigns for the comp or the other way around or a router does it for them but a hub has nothing to due with DHCP.

3. I'm just tryin to make sure what he means by "Ethernet to Ethernet". I've heard people call NICs, RJ45 ports and jacks, cables, and their home ethernet based network "ethernets".

I want to see the 11 time faster speeds but I'm not sure if Saulin incorrectly stated the speeds or just his terminology is a bit off or different. I think I'll have to try it with DHCP and static and compare them.

I use to get about 1.5 / 1.6mg/s before I get this new router. If I went back to my old hub I would get that again.

As for #3, they are all the same thing. Yes it is an ethernet port. The card is called a NIC, "Network Interface Card". RJ45 is the kind of cable used to make patch cables and such.

Note: you will only get the 11000KB/s if you are transfering HD to HD. For example

1. I backup the Xbox game to the Xbox HD with HDD Loader first
2. I then FTP the files from the Xbox to my PC and I do get 11300KB/s. THis seems to be the max speed.

As for Ethernet to Ethernet connection.

Well I have my 2 Pcs set up so they both get their Ips from my ISP's DHCP server. So my cable modem is connected to my Hub and my PCs connected to my HUB.

Now on my PC I added a second Ethernet card which I make a static IP. Then I connect this NIC with the NIC on the Xbox and make the Xbox static as well.

When I send stuff from my PC to my Xbox HD this way I usually get 3000KB/s to 6000Kb/s, however sending from the Xbox HD to my HD gives me the best speed up to 11300KB/s so over 10 megabytes per second.

I hope this clears things up.

If i FTP the game directly from the DVD-Rom to my HD speed seems to be arround 1.3 Megabytes /s and sometimes some files seem to have problems getting copied and the speeds drops to 2-4Kb/s. That's why I don't like the direct copy from DVD to PC HD.
