Ive been backing up dvd's for about the past 4 years if not 5 by now. Ive noticed a few of my apple brand dvd-r's (which was all you could easily get back then) have gave me a few probs. Thing is, not all of them are like that. Most actually play very well. So it could have been just a bad disc or even a bad burn.
I wouldnt trust any cheap media like Princo on lasting too long though. Just look at the discs and youll know what I mean. Tyler!
