external modchip

does anybody know if the use of an external modchip enables one to play multi-cd games?
somebody told me it's not possible and before i get to burn coasters i would like to know if this is a fact or not.

so you say it's impossible to play more then one of a multicd game when one has an external modchip?
is there really no trick to avoid this?
if this is the fact i feel cheated because the salesman didn't mention this to us...

thanx

Yes, you can play multi-disc games. However (there's always a "however"), it can be a pain in the ass. Depending on how the game handles the whole switch-disc thing, you may have to perform a "double-swap."

Most games I've played don't require this (all of the Final Fantasies, Star Ocean, Xenogears) as they ask you to "save" prior to the actual changing of discs. But some games, most notably Chrono Cross, don't have this save feature and you'll have to pull off a double-swap.

Regardless, I've found only one game that could detect my plugmod: Strider 2. But because my plugmod doubled as a GameShark, I was able to input codes that bypassed Capcom's rather aggressive copy protection schemes. Personally, I'm very happy with my choice.
