C+C Generals Setup EXE.

I know this game has not been out 2 weeks, but I really need your help. The SETUP Exe (As well as the game Exe) is protected, and I can't get the damned thing installed whatever I do. This is a shop bought original by the way, not a copy or Warez. I've had similar problems with Westwood games before, and have posted similar posts to this. I must be sounding like a parrot by now!
Anyway, unless I can find a Safedisc cleaned install, I have had it, and won't be able to play the game. I've asked EA and Westwood, but have had no reply. I presume the Warez version has a cracked install! Does anyone know if this is correct? I'm only on 56k, so it would take weeks to get it. I've asked other forums, but they assume I'm a pirate because they don't understand my problem. I am simply trying everything to get my original discs up and running, and if I have to use cracks to achieve this then I will. This site used to post fixed Exe's for games (Mainly Westwood), but they are harder to find nowadays. Is anyone working on a fixed setup, as it would be invaluable to me (i.e. I could install the game!)? I have never or will never use Warez, but if it gets me the file I need to run this game I may have to try. I have changed my CDROM drive, but still have the same problem. Maybe it's the MOBO, I just don't know, but my machine and Westwood Safedisc just don't mix. Someone suggested I install the game on my friends machine, then copy all the files across to mine. Although they would then be uncompressed I suppose it could be done, but the main problem is the Registry. Would the Install contain hardware specific keys that won't copy to my machine? If I did get it to work, it would be a problem if I needed to Re-install Windows! This is giving me nightmares, and you shouldn't have this grief when you've shelled out 35 quid on a game should you? I can understand Westwood wanting to protect their games, but something is wrong when a Warezer can play it fine, and me who's bought it can't! If you don't understand my problem, please don't insult me. I am just looking for a solution to my genuine problem. Thanks

Wow, long text... luckily there's still people who brave the corporate **** ups that invent this kind of hare brained copy protection schemes.... Now I forgot which safedisc version the setup.exe is, probably safedisc 2. This can be used to unpack the setup.exe in the setup directory on the cd. This setup.exe is the protected one that prevents an install. I haven't seen the contents of the cd, but Westwood does this with ALL its games so I know it will work like this too.. It is possible that the setup.exe uses a safedisc version that cannot be unpacked with this program, but try it and let me know what happens....

edit : remember it's the \setup\setup.exe, NOT the \setup.exe in the main dir, that's just used to start it....

PS If I don't make any sense now, wait till I got some sleep tomorrow and I'll get back to ya

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Thanks for the reply. Generals uses Safedisc V2.80.010, and as yet there is no unpacker available for it. I don't have the knowledge to make my own fixed Setup, so must rely on either someone posting one, or another method of getting this game to install. It's not looking good is it?

Why?. If you want the setup.exe file from the Warez release, just ask.
I'm sure someone can get hold of it for you.

I feel 4 you m8 if you Realy have shelled out Ģ35 on a game that wont install. This is a sugestion for you to try however it may be no good. There is a guy called "CD KILLER" who frequently comes in GCW and i have read posts where people have sent him the exe for him crack. Now i have had help from him in the past and he was very helpfull so my advice is send him a PM stating your problem and see what happens Also RINCE (who responded to your post 1st) may be able to help you out if you ask him nicely . (sorry RINCE )

No need to ask, I come to the rescue

timat13flers : A mate sent me both the cracked setup.exe and cracked game executable. I cannot test it myself since I don't have the game, and that's a bit risky since the setup.exe + game crack take up 6.3 Mb. If you have a decent email box of at least 7 Mb free space and with a 2Mb/email limit, I can send it to you if you want. I could also send only the setup.exe but that's ~4Mb on its own anyway. If you need such an email account, www.mail.com will give you a free 10Mb account in five minutes. Let me know if I have to send it, and if so give me a pm with your email address (remember that it has to have at least 7 Mb free space, if I'm going to send four ~2Mb emails I do not want them bounced back to me).

Doesn't seem to work at the moment. I'll try again tomorrow and if it works I'll upload the files... For what it's worth, the session gets terminated immediately if I try to login.

Edit : And I'd change your password as soon as you can. You do realise that you gave your login details in a public forum, right ? Next time use a pm, it's a bit more safe

I don't need this webspace account anymore. You need a FTP Program to upload the files...

Our you can upload the files to my yahoo Briefcase:

user: agentorange2k3

or you can send me an e-mail...

Ok heres a real basic thing 4 you to try. (you have probarly have but ill explain just incase ). 1st if you own a cdrom drive and a cdrw drive try the install through both. Second if this still dose not help then have you tried exploreing the disk (1) and manualy double clicking on the setup file ?. If not then i suggest you do.
I have had 1 game in the past (original) that would not auto run even though my cd/cdrw drives are set to auto run so i did what i have just told you obviously and install process went ahead.
Hope this info helps in someway
