No it would result in, huge pressure from several anti-piracy groups to force the site down.

@WarezRule!: Excuse me, I also have my own opinion about society, economy, politics and, in particular, the greed of game publishers. BUT NOT EVEN THAT changes the fact that the forum rules prohibit the discussion of warez! Actually, argumentations over the usefulness of warez are off-topic, too...

As for warez users, the current extremely high - and constantly raising! - noise/signal and ban ratio on this forum is a good proof for the vast majority of warez users being idiots. Here you could define "idiot" as something like "not familar enough with the tools/sites/forums to be able to solve warez-related problems on his (or her?) own, but unfortunately not only that, also expecting other people's help - often in an aggressive tone - free of charge (as in without paying anything or doing a favor in change)". These people are the same idiots whom once you help with solving an absolutely minor problem with their cars and, from then on, like a leech, they will expect you to change the tyres or replace the engine - still for free! -, even if there are car repair service all over the neighborhood. Unfortunately, I know quite a few people like that around me...

You think that I think that idiotism is not warez-related? Damn, you got that right!

Does the flaming and such really appease the anti-piracy groups? As Joe Forster pointed out there is a large and growing number of people who are unable or unwilling to disguise their warez use on this forum. It seems to me that a ban-and-delete-post policy would help keep this site from the legal radar as well as improving the general tone of posts. Violaters could just be sent an e-mail informing them of the ban and a brief explanation of why the post was removed.

I don't think it's unreasonable for people to "expect" help on a file help forum. Since this forum is linked to websites mostly used by warez users it shouldn't be a surprise to find people with warez problems wandering into this forum. You're right that most of these people have pretty simple questions that they should be able to figure out on their own, but there are idiots out there. I just don't see the need to rub it in their faces the way some people on this forum seem to.

I think the aggressive tone people have is due to the flames and snide comments they read in older posts before asking their question. After the first percieved shot is fired, the venom starts spewing in both directions, ruining what could have been a constructive post.

I'm not arguing that warez users should be allowed to openly discuss their crime on this forum. No one who has ever had a problem solved by this forum should want to intentionally put it in some lawyer's sights. I just think there should be a new policy towards people who can't follow the rules.

And Dabhand is right on the money. People are thieves. And liars. And cheaters. ALL people. All but the most clueless optimists realize at some point in their lives that their fellow man sucks. The CEOs of these corporations are doing everything they can think of to "rip off" the consumer. I like to see consumers getting a few licks in as well. This conflict won't end until capitalism does. Like Old Man Dabhand recalls, this has been going on since the dawn of gaming history. Prices will keep going up to pay for more expensive copy protection (not that the lowly worker bees will see any of that cash in their high-tech sweatshops) and the thieves will keep finding ways around it.

Could we hear a mod's opinion on the ban and delete idea?

dude, warez talk just isent wanted here..i mean this is a good conversation, but it is the wish of the site owner that we dont discuss it,so lets just respect that and get back to football manager. :P

your a intellegent guy with alot of valid points, but i dont think this is the place, and if it upsets you then maybe a pm conversation would be more appropriate with the site owner.

I think i've read about enough, The forum rules are simple, You are not allowed to help with or discuss warez on this forum. They dont say that you are not allowed to have or use warez. Each of you agreed to obey these rules before registering so dont sit here and complain when a mod closes a post or bans someone for breaking them. These forum rules are not for you to sit here and debate as well. The rules are set by our administrator and will be enforced by the moderators.
If ANY of you have a problem with this i suggest you find another forum to hang out at because here we are not going to sugarcoat it for you. If someone asks for help with warez the thread will be closed and the abuser will be banned. This also applies to Flamers!
