'Official' DOOM 3 Thread

ebgames web site says it has been confirmed doom3 is to be released august 3rd.

how true this is well we'll see 1 month away.
i do not know if this has been posted here but i did anyhow.
if anyone can find another site to match this confirmation please post.

A friend in the game business has lent me a beta copy and **** me this game is awesome.
For the first time since the first resident evil....a game scares the **** out of me!


Any PC owner who doesn't own this should be shot

Where to Pre-Order Doom 3

Hi there! I am a fan of games in the uncut-versions.

Now I would like to know, where I can pre-order the US-Version in a
german online-store.

Please: Only good rated stores.

Amazon Germany doesnīt even show the german version of d3 in
their database. Does anybody know why?

Half-Life 2 is in the list - but i guess it will not be released before 2005.

How to dramatically increase the peformance of Doom 3!!!

As all of you who allready have this game recognized the game is very slow even on new Computers.

I found out the reason for this and the solution to fix this problem.

As you already know after installation the game consits only of the doom3.exe and some .PK4 files. Those PK4 files includes the entire game (sounds, videos, textures etc.) in high compressed form.

Normally those files were decompresse during the game.

But this exactly is the problem. Even new CPUs are not able to decompress those files while running the game with good peformance and therfore the game runs very **** also on new computers. I don't know if the develpers of ID-Soft was just too stupid to think about this or if they have an agreement with some hardware manufacturing firms.

How to get around this problem:

It is very simple. Go to your Doom 3 installation directoy and get inside the folder "Base". There are some .PK4 files you have to open each of them with WinRAR 3.3 and extract their entire contents to the Base dir in you Doom 3 installation folder (replace all files if they are any duplicates). Now you have to delete all .PK4 files in the Base folder to prevent the game to use those compressed files agian.

Now the game starts and runs mutch faster!!!

Angry Doom 3 Problems

Has anyone been having problems running Doom 3?

The following is my current specs:
AMD 2500+ (OC'ed to 3200+)
Radeon 9500 Non-Pro
512MB
With a GigaByte NForce 2 Board

I'm pretty sure that my specs are good enough to play the game....but....when I get into the menu screen and try and play say the Recruit game.....It starts to load it and then kicks me back to the main menu screen....And this is from a Legit copy of Doom 3.....

u get that with ol crappeh radeons, download the new beta catalyst drivers and it should be fixed.
