Problems with chipped PS2 Online!!! Help/comments welcome

I have a chipped PS2 with Magic 3 modchip - which I bought recently and by all accounts seems to be working okay, except when I want to go online.

I have Broadband with Blueyonder, and have registered the PS2 network adaptor MAC address via Blueyonders online website.

I connect my PS2 up, insert the NAD disc and go through all the setting up process, it even completes the diagnostic tests sucessfully, but when I try to exit the diagnostic test screen by highlighting and selecting exit, it doesn't work, the whole thing just freezes. If I reset my machine, and run the diagnostic tests again, then it lets me exit, but if I try to log on to 'Central' the screen just freezes again.

Now I do have my old PS2 which I was planning on selling, I didn't get this chipped as it was one of the first units to be released and apparently nigh on impossible to do. So I thought I'd try and get online with it, and guess what? It works!! Now it could be a coincidence that my PS2 that isn't chipped works and the other one which is chipped doesn't - so my question is has anyone with a chipped PS2 managed to get online? And if so did you have any of these problems?
