just installed apple pro
I just installed an apple pro in my V7 PS2 and it works great. For all those newbs out there just practice on some old board then go for it, just work slowly and steadily and make sure you ask plenty of questions if you get stuck.
I must admit it was a very nerve wrecking 5 hours, especially when the wires don't stick, but I managed to do it. Make sure you pre-tin the pads even if there is solder already on them. Actually the only wires that gave me some trouble were the power and ground since the wires were so big, but I just switched to a bigger tip and everything worked out. Heck for the power you don't even have to solder to that capacitor just solder to the pad next to it. The last time I did anything like this was for those 8 wire PSX installs and I only did two of those, so it can be done. Sorry for the long thread, just excited that it actually works. Of course I've only tried a couple of games but I am sure all the others will work. |
