sorry for all the questions but i'am 15 and i worked hard for this spending money and didnt wanted it 2 go 2 waste because i dont go out,just 2 school but i wanted a lil fun by getting a Ps2.

someone i know is going 2 miami in 3 days an the only game i have is a N64 but i manage 2 save up money and wanted 2 get a PS2.my plan is 2 get it from walmart or some place cheap with the online package.i was getting the other items from consolesource.com.i have a few questions.

1st-i don't want the mod-chip thing just the swap magic.will it work just like the mod-chip by playing media files on it an reading burn games well ?

2.will it damage my system in anyway ?

3.Does Ps2 just take cd-r's an dvd-r's an what are the best ones ?

4.can i play burn games online ?

5.should i buy the Ps2 HD Loader ?

6.whats the best Ps2 version 2 buy ?

7.Do burn games work well on the Ps2 just as if it was a original ?

8.is consolesource.com is the best place 2 order from ? they ship to the bahamas which is rare from stores.

Answers:
1. No it won't work just like a mod. They are crap and have trouble with virtually all new games. You'll be on here asking all sorts of questions as to why or why not games won't work. If you're going to get into the scene, get a real modchip, otherwise, I wouldn't bother at all. You need a PC to copy the discs (using a CD and or DVD Writer). See the Ultimate Info Sticky to become more versed in this and get some background on the scene as it stands at the moment. PS2 reality player is the best media player for PS2 (MP3, DIVx) etc...

2. Slide Cards will damage and are crap. Flip Tops are also a load of crap. In fact, anything with a boot disc is crap - just GET A MODCHIP!

3. V1-4 use DVD-R and CD-R. V5-10 use DVD-/+R/RW, CD-R/RW
Best CD-R is Verbatim DataLifePLUS and the best DVD is -R with Ritek G04 Dye.

4. You can play burned games online by patching the DNAS code.

5. Yes

6. V7 but they are rare these days. 10's are the better bets.

7. Yes, with a MOD. If you use swap crap, definately NOT.

8. consolesource.com is very good to order from

I ain't had no problem with new games mate :S Are you talking from experience or just say so?

Gotta disagree with you again here m8. I buy a lot of imports and swap magic 3 hasn't had a problem with any games i've had since splinter cell. :S

At the end of the day i'm not plugging swap magic. I've had a v7 with a no solder mod & swap magic 3.0 since the V7 was first released. I've never got around to modding the machine and prob never will cause i'm a lazy bugger!

I'm just glad I never went down the magic 2 route seeing as at least if anything happened such as the kingdom hearts/magic 2 crashes the I could just play the original!

Well to be honest it sounds like his ps2 is up the guff cause I ain't had no prob with anything i've backup up for myself since splinter cell. :S

i still dont know what 2 do.if i choose mod-chip then i'll have 2 get the Ps2 an then order the mod-chip an i guess the HD Loader as well from consolesource.com then pay someone from my country 2 install the mod-chip 4 me,if i do find someone but when it's all done and working well i'll be more greatful that its all over. thanks

If I were you I would either buy a PS2, Matrix Infinity and then find someone to install, or just buy a premod system from somewhere that'll ship to your region...
