MvC2 idea megalexx please read this!
hello , just wondering if you're still active as a DC tool developer. i had this ambicious idea about this particular game for DC and i might need your help (please say yes!).
I had got this video from gamecombos site something like 3 years ago (if not even earlier) from the same guys that managed to change MvC2 game music into custom ones, in which it shows some characters being mixed between them, like just renaming the characters files between them and actually the game worked. you can see Megaman being actually Marrow...imagine Marrow in Megaman's suit trying to do her supers, specials, etc. just like that. Thanos is changed by Psylocke so you can see Thanso doing some Psy-moves and screaming like her. the same goes for Sakura / Cammy, but this last one is very interesting, 'cause Cammy's voice is from CvSnk game from DC, not the MvC2 one. I can share the vid of course for the curiosity. anyways, i'm not wanting to add extra characters to the game, i just wanna know if there's a chance to know which one is the sound effects file inside the CD, you know, the hit fx's, hyper combos sound fx's, the announcer's voice, etc. just about sounds, no need for new characters, really. also you know when you unlock new stages they use the same music for each version, for example: daylight navy ship and Night time navy ship, they both use the same .adx file (adx_s000.bin) , i was wondering if something can be done about that, for them to load another .adx file, a brand new one, just messing with an hex decimal editor. PLEASE answer me about this ideas, please if you're not a tool developer anymore, even helping a litle bit would be greatly appretiated, i'm not getting support from anyone! thanx in advance, please help meee :'( edit: here's the vid http://rapidshare.de/files/4775610/id-def4.wmv.html

Well, I'm not sure exactly what you want to accomplish, but from taking a quick look at the files, I can tell you this.
The ADX*.BIN files are regular ADX files, and contain music tracks (as well as some speech for the announcer, but no SFX). I would assume that the sound effects are contained in the S_*.BIN files. They are probably raw ADPCM. To this day, with all my experience, I have yet to find a tool to decode these ADPCM files, although I do have one to encode them. The other files are easily identifyable as graphics. I suppose you could swap a few of them around if you really wanted to and see what happens, but I don't really see the point. As for changing ADX between night/day stages, I doubt it's possible. But you could search 1ST_READ.BIN for instances of each ADX and see if there are two separate ones. Other than that, it would require a live dissassembler or very good SH4 skills. Last edited by Darkfalz; 08-09-2005 at 00:49. |

Again, why?
I could customise just about any game with custom music, mixed up graphics and sounds, but what would be the point? Just for the heck of it? |

well dunno about other games, but i want this particular one with the stuff i want, i just care about this one. if it can be done, it'll be good, and i dun know where to start
