Does Neo 2.2 damage laser in all version Ps2

Does the Neo 2.2 only damage the laser in V3 machines - have had my NEo 2 fitted for about 8 months & there's no problem with it - no skipping or nothing.

I've only got 2 dvdr backups I haven't played a load of them yet, so if it makes my ps2 buy the farm I may get a messiah.

Some Advice from you Ps2 heads would be great.

jpb1 is sort of fortunate in that if DVD-Rs work now with NEO2.2 they should work immediately with Messiah. Not always the case but usually. So get to Messiah quickly while the going is good!

Toongaz is in a limbo state. The NEO2.2 pulses and he doesn't know the state of his DVD laser diode. Get a DVD-R game and try it. Then you'll know.

The neo 2.2 will eventually destroy the laser no matter what version PS2 you have. Installing a capacitor will slow it down but not stop it completely.

Search the forum under the user name Arakon and read his detailed stuff on why the Neo2.2 eventually destroys your laser.

The Messiah doesn't behave in this fashion and has no negative effect on your laser.

Hi,

Ive had my V4 NEO2.2 Chipped box just over a year now and it still boots backups as good as it did when i got it out of the box.

Although im in the process of sorting out a Messiah, You can get a Messiah Insalled these days for £75 which i dont think is bad.

The NEO2.2 was a great mod but the Messiah is well worth the upgrade money and even though i dont completely agree with the NEO2 chip will destroy you Laser posts, if u have the cash get an upgrade like myself and proberly many others!!

Cheers

Dal
